GCash has been very useful to me for the past two years.
And as time goes by, I am appreciating this mobile wallet more because it continues to develop more rewarding services for its consumers.
GCash has been founded on October 1, 2004. It is a mobile wallet where you can store your money on your cellphone without actually bringing a physical wallet. It provides you different cashless services like buying a load, purchasing items, paying bills, sending in and receiving money.
I started using GCash for the reason of using it as a payment facility whenever I place an ad on my Facebook page. I purchased a GCash Mastercard from a Globe Store near me for Php 150 but that was before. Now, you can already get started with GCash for FREE and receive Php 50 worth of freebies for you thru this link.
Aside from Php 50 worth of freebies that you can get when you started using the app, here are its other cashless services you can enjoy with exciting rewards that await you.
1. Load Services
GCash offers load services to all networks which give you a 5% cash back to your account. Instead of buying a load from a near sari-sari store that charges you 10% of the amount, you may opt to use the app instead to save money. For a prepaid user like me, it saves me a lot just by buying a load from the app because of the cash back.
This also applies if my friends ask for a load because I get to earn as well when they pay the load amount that they have requested. Isn’t that a good deal even though you only earn coins? I still believe it can go further. 🙂
2. Bills Payment
I use this service a lot to skip long lines in the banks and payment centers. The app caters different company billers for utilities, cable/internet, telecoms, credit cards, insurance, and loans. They even cater payments facilities to PAG-IBIG, NBI, and DFA. Just take note that some billers charge fees amounting to Php 7 per transaction, just like with bayad centers.
All in all, I still love this service because I get the convenience of not waiting in long lines just to pay bills. It saves me time and I get to do tasks which are way more important to be done in a day.
3. Online Banking
Online banking has been very easy with GCash. Funding your account can be done when you cash in thru your bank’s mobile banking e.g. BPI, RCBC, and UnionBank. All you have to do is link your online bank account to the app then you can cash in any amount and anytime you want with no extra fees.
Bank to bank fund transfer has also been made possible thru the app. If you currently have a bank account with BPI and you want to transfer some funds to your UnionBank account, you can already skip the lines of withdrawing and depositing your money in each bank. All you have to do is ‘Cash In’ the amount you want to transfer from your BPI account to the GCash app. Once it became successful, you can transfer the amount to your UnionBank account thru the ‘Bank Transfer’ feature of the app.
Isn’t that amazing? Skipping long lines in a bank for a single transaction saves you a lot of time. What more if other banks will become available to be linked in thru the app? Definitely a hassle-free and secured online banking!
4. Savings Account
Recently, GCash has offered its new financial service, GSave, to selected users. They have partnered to CIMB Bank to make this feature possible. With GSave, there is no minimum initial deposit, no maintaining balance required, no service charges when doing transactions, and your money can earn up to 2.3% annual interest. However, there is a maximum account balance for this feature which is Php 100,000 over 12 months.
Right now, this feature is still currently in beta mode and is open to selected users only.
5. Easy Access of Withdrawing Your Money
There are many ways of withdrawing your money from the app. The first option is to go directly to Globe Business Center or GCash partner outlets like Puregold, Villarica Pawnshops, Bayad Center and etc. Fill up a form, present a valid ID and send your MPIN for confirmation of the transaction. A service fee of Php 20 per Php 1,000 will be deducted from your account upon processing this withdrawal. Here’s the list of accredited GCash partner outlets where you can cash out your money: //www.gcash.com/cash-out
Another option is thru ATM withdrawal. If you have a GCash Mastercard, you can withdraw at any Bancnet or Mastercard-partner ATM nationwide. You can also transfer your cash from the app to your linked online bank account to avoid withdrawal/service charge. Easy, right? 😉
6. Send GCash Money
You can easily send money to your loved ones anytime and anywhere in the country. As long as they are a GCash user, they can receive the money real time with no extra fees.
To do that, just tap the ‘Send Money’ icon on the app. You can send money either in an express manner or personalized where you can write a note of whatever you want to say to the receiver. Just enter the receiver’s mobile number and the amount you want to send in. Voila! Cash received! 🙂
7. GCash Invest Money
For only Php 50, you can start investing your money and earn higher interests than what your money gets in a savings account. This feature reaches out to users who want to get started in investing but have little knowledge about investment. This can be a good start for them.
Through the partnership between Globe Telecom, Ant Financial and Ayala Corp’s Mynt, and ATRAM Trust Corp, investing has been made easy and super affordable for Filipino people. Just tap the ‘Invest Money’ icon and you will be redirected to your profile which you need to review and confirm. After that, you will answer some risk profiling questions that will determine your risk appetite and the type of investor you are. Once done, it will take a few days to get you notified if your account has been approved or not.

8. Cashless Payments
When you go to Mercury Drug or Watsons and forgot to bring your wallet, worry no more because if you have a GCash, you can already pay your purchases cashless via QR.
It’s easy! You just go to the app and click ‘Pay QR’ on the main page. Tap on the “Scan QR Code” icon and align the camera at the cashier’s QR code. Once detected, input the total amount of your purchase and confirm transaction details. Both you and the cashier will receive an SMS from 2882, which will serve as your receipt.
Get instant discounts when you pay via QR today!
These are just some of the features I love with GCash. They still have other services to offer like booking movie tickets, applying for a GCredit, and many more. So what are you waiting for? Enjoy cashless transactions today and start using GCash! Register here!
